Dare ProtoPlay 2012

Scottish Thistle Award

Friday 10th - Sunday 12th August 2012, 10am - 6pm (5pm Sun) Caird Hall Dundee

Building on the final phase of the international video games design competition Dare to be Digital, Dare ProtoPlay is Scotland's biggest FREE video gaming education and consumer event, taking place over 3 days in August every year. Dare ProtoPlay 2012 will be held in Caird Hall in Dundee on 10-12th August, 2012. Entry to the Dare to be Digital games and the Dare Indie Showcase games is free. More than 40 games to be played for free.There are also many other education programmes to be enjoyed by a little more serious developers. Check below for more details.

Dare to be Digital 2012 Games

Come play 15 brand new games developed by talent from Dare to be Digital contestants. Industry judges will pick 3 winning teams from Dare to be Digital to become the sole nominations of the BAFTA Ones To Watch Award.

You can also have your say by voting them to win the  Audience award.

UKIE Tax Break Consultation Session

Ukie will hold a tax break consultation session in Dare Indie Fest as part of a series of seminars across the UK in Birmingham, Bristol, London and Dundee.

These seminars are part of Ukie’s wider tax breaks consultation programme and aim to make sure that all parts of the industry are informed about how tax breaks might operate and give games businesses the chance to influence the way they will operate when introduced in 2013

Game Jam at Dare Indie Fest

This free-style game jam is non-structured and self-organised. Participants are free to meet up with other developers on site and create something exciting together. Bring your laptop. There will be power and wifi internet connection available.

Michael Lawrie

Create Like Michael

Michael Lawrie has just turned 16, and is from Fort William. He also loves all sorts of tech and started to teach himself computer programming 15 months ago after a comment from a family friend. He now has 4 games selling on the App store. Michael is a keen sportsman and enjoys mountain biking, skiing, golf and shinty, for which he represented the North of Scotland last year. 
Come and be inspired by Michael and get some tips on how he creates games. You can create like Michael.
